SPW Youth 7v7 Touch Football
The 7v7 league is a non-contact 2 hand touch football league that's basically football without pads or lineman. Kids will wear helmets and mouth guards for safety purposes, and to stay acclimated to wearing them. This league is a great way for kids to work on their running, passing and catching skills in the offseason, or just a great opportunity to stay active. ALL kids no matter what positions they normally play are welcome to participate.
Ages
Current 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade kids.
When
Spring from mid-April through May.
Where
Games will be played behind the tennis courts at CHUMS. Practice locations will be determined by coaches.
Practices
Practices will start the week of April 12th. Usually, coaches will schedule 2 practices a week, then drop it down to 1 a week once the games schedule starts.
Games
Games will be played on Sunday mornings starting at 9am and 10am. The first game will be Sunday, April 26th.
Team Shirts
Shirts are included with the registration cost, and will be provided before the first game.
Equipment
Helmets and mouth guards will be provided. Weather appropriate athletic wear and cleats are preferred. Please have athletes bring water to practices and games.
Note:
It's recommended that parents bring chairs to the games as the field next to the tennis courts behind CHUMS only has a very small section of bleachers.
Frequently Asked Questions
My athlete plays baseball and would miss a bunch of practices and maybe a game or two. Should I still sign him/her up?
Absolutely. We completely understand springs sports will be heating up at this time, but his league is very laid back and it's completely ok if kids miss some practices and games.
Are scholarships available for this league?
Unfortunately, no. The registration fee covers the cost of the shirts and game officials. We're hopeful that we can offer that in the future for 7v7.
