Scholarship Program
Sun Prairie West Youth Football is proud to offer a scholarship program for families that are going through economic hardships. The scholarship program is funded by local businesses that sponsor SPWYF, and by our program fundraising efforts. SPWYF, along with our sponsors believe that no matter a families' economic standing, all kids that want to play football should have every opportunity to do so. To be considered to receive a scholarship, families will need to apply to start the process.
How to Participate in the Scholarship Program
If interested in participating in our scholarship program, first we ask that families DO NOT begin the online registration process until after scholarship status has been determined by the SPWYF Board of Directors.
To apply, please reach out to Sun Prairie West Youth Football via email (sunprairiewestyouthfootball@gmail.com) to request the application, then we will promptly return that email with the application. Fill out the application as best as possible and send it back to us via email or turn it in with an acting board member.
Once we receive the completed application, we will reach out promptly with the determined scholarship status via email. If the application is accepted, the email will contain step by step instructions to complete the registration process.
Note: Scholarship applications will only be viewed by a few select board members and the information and list of recipients will not be known by anyone else in the organization or community.
Scholarship Rules
- The deadline for scholarships to be considered is July 24th. After that date the scholarship program will be closed until the following season. This deadline was created as it's extremely difficult for us to review scholarships once the season starts. April 1st through July 24th should give families plenty of time to go through the scholarship process.
- Scholarship recipients will be asked to help the program by donating their time to volunteer. There are plenty of opportunities to pitch-in and help throughout the season. For example, equipment hand-out, helping to run the chains or scoreboards during games and taking on the team manger position are just a few ways to volunteer.
- Scholarship recipients must return their equipment by no later than the team scheduled equipment hand-in. Players receive upwards of $650 of equipment before the season starts and it's extremely difficult to track down players for their gear once the season is over. Failure to return equipment by hand-in date will result in no longer being eligible for scholarships going forward.
